Slightly better figures for Tata Steel, financial worries not over yet

The IJmuiden-based steel producer made a pre-tax profit of 90 million euros last year. Net profit amounted to a loss of 205 million euros.

Tata Steel in IJmuiden, which plans to cut 1,600 jobs, made a profit of 90 million euros in the past financial year. However, the steel company's financial problems are far from over.

CNV is giving Tata Steel until 13 June to change its recently announced reorganisation. If the company behind the blast furnace complex at IJmuiden does not do this, union members will take action, probably with a strike.
