Man Charged with Assault After Videos Show Attacks on Charlotte Streets
Police said detectives matched social media video to a July 30 assault and identified 32-year-old Di-Quan Schafar Hunt as the suspect.
On Thursday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested 32-year-old Di-Quan Schafar Hunt after detectives reviewed videos linked to a violent assault shared on social media.
Police said the video depicted an assault reported July 30 in the Dilworth neighborhood near East Boulevard, where investigators allege a woman was punched on a sidewalk before the suspect fled.
The victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, authorities reported. Hunt is currently in a medical facility and faces a pending assault with a deadly weapon charge upon transfer to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives continue to review multiple recordings associated with the social media account as the case remains active. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Court records show Hunt has an extensive criminal history in Mecklenburg County, including a March 2026 conviction for assault with a deadly weapon and prior charges involving firearms and property-related offenses.
