Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Undergoes Surgery, Continues Her Duties

On Thursday, Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz underwent "major surgery" at Sharif Medical City Hospital in Lahore and has since been transferred home.
The surgery occurred on the first day of Eidul Azha, yet despite hospitalization, the chief minister monitored provincial security, cleanliness, and administrative matters throughout the holiday.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed prayers for the chief minister's speedy recovery, while Information Technology Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said, "May Allah Almighty grant complete health, well-being, and a long life."
This procedure follows prior medical history: Maryam Nawaz underwent throat surgery in Geneva, Switzerland, in January 2023 and was admitted to the Sharif Medical City Complex in November 2024 for health issues.
Last month, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari dismissed reports of the chief minister battling cancer as "absolutely false news," calling such claims "false propaganda with someone's life.
