Energy-intensive industry emits a quarter of the Netherlands' CO2 and is barely making any progress towards sustainability. The Scientific Climate Council advises choosing more clearly for industries that do fit in. "It requires political courage, because vested interests are significant."
The Netherlands could lose its entire industry if politicians fail to make decisions about sustainability. This was signaled by the Scientific Climate Council (WKR) on Thursday in a major report on the industry, on the eve of the new cabinet.
