Popular Eye Drops Sold Nationwide Recalled over Sterility Concerns
The Class II recall covers 39,060 bottles after the FDA cited a lack of assurance of sterility.
The FDA recalled nearly 40,000 bottles of Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief over potential contamination. The 15mL bottles distributed nationwide by Medtech Products began recall on July 29 and remain ongoing.
New York-based Prestige Consumer Healthcare initiated the voluntary action citing a "lack of assurance of sterility." The FDA classified the recall as Class II, indicating potential temporary or medically reversible health problems.
Recalled products are labeled Lot 2552A with an expiration date of Sept. 30, 2027. Available nationwide at major retailers including Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Dollar General, and Amazon.
Customers are urged to stop using the product immediately and return it to the point of purchase for a full refund. No injuries have been reported from the recalled items.
Designated by recall number D-0766-2026, the agency's action follows standard product removal procedures. NBC Universal, Inc. noted that recalls occur when items present risks of injury or gross deception.
