Dozens of survivors of the Île-à-la-Crosse Boarding School attended a multi-day retreat designed to promote reconnection and healing, just days ahead of being able to apply for settlement compensation after a legal battle that took more than 20 years.

Survivors of the Île-à-la-Crosse residential school, along with eligible heirs, can now begin applying for compensation after the Court approved class-action settlements with the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan.
