City of Ionia faces $1.5M revenue loss

The Ionia city manager warned on Wednesday that tax increases may be required as the city is losing $1.5 million in annual revenue tied to the demolition of the Michigan Reformatory prison complex.  During her presentation of the proposed 2026-2027 budget, City Manager Precia Garland explained that a state fire protection services grant was going down to $400,000.
