The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) is continuing its expanded air monitoring efforts in response to ongoing debris removal efforts near areas affected by the Eaton and Palisades fires. Air monitoring will provide data on particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), toxic air pollutants (such as lead and arsenic), and asbestos in communities near the burn areas.

During the summer of 2025, Occidental College dormitories that do not yet have air conditioning—Chilcott Hall, Haines Hall, Stearns Hall, and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) house—will have air conditioning installed.
