Citizens Theatre reimagines Saint Joan with fierce clarity

Stewart Laing’s ninety-minute production uses Shaw’s screenplay with modern costuming and a film epilogue to highlight ongoing persecution of 'saints', producers said.

Theatre, Saint Joan, Citizens Theatre, Glasgow. When George Bernard Shaw dragged himself out of premature retirement in 1923, the great man’s late burst was inspired by Joan of Arc being made a saint.
