Cipher Mining Surges on Amazon AI Lease Announcement

Cipher Mining signed a $5.5 billion, 15-year lease with Amazon Web Services and formed a joint venture to build a 1-gigawatt HPC site in West Texas.

  • The delivery schedule calls for 300 MW capacity in two phases beginning July 2026 and completing in the fourth quarter, with rent commencing in August 2026.
  • Despite missing Wall Street expectations, Cipher Mining shares surged on Monday, peaking with a 34.6% intraday gain and trading up 20.1% by 2:15 p.m. ET.
