Strong advance sales and premium-format demand helped drive the film’s debut, with IMAX reporting $50 million in pre-sales.

- Filmgoers awarded the adaptation an A grade on CinemaScore and a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. "There's just palpable excitement across the domestic market," said Jim Orr, Universal's president of domestic theatrical distribution.
- Nolan's biggest global debut surpassed The Dark Knight Rises' $249 million benchmark, while ranking as the year's third-largest opening behind Toy Story 5 and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
