Male Enhancement Chocolates Recalled over 'Life Threatening' Concerns
Gear Isle recalls two male-enhancement chocolates containing undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil, posing risks to users on nitrate heart medications, FDA warns.
- On Thursday, the Food and Drug Administration announced that California-based Gear Isle is voluntarily recalling two chocolate products, "Gold Lion Aphrodisiac Chocolate" and "ilum Sex Chocolate," after testing revealed undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil.
- Marketed online as dietary supplements, the products contain prescription drugs that can cause a "life-threatening" drop in blood pressure when combined with nitrates found in heart medications, the FDA warned.
- The recalled products include the Gold Lion sachet with UPC 795847916279 expiring June 2027 and the ilum Sex Chocolate booster with UPC 1002448578911 expiring Dec. 25, 2027. Gear Isle reports no adverse events.
- Consumers should immediately stop using these products and return them for a refund, as Gear Isle is actively notifying customers by letter to coordinate returns and refunds, the FDA said.
- This action follows a similar recall earlier this month by New Mexico-based Primal Supplements Group LLC for its "Volume" sexual enhancement product, as the FDA warns that supplements marketed for sexual enhancement often contain hidden drugs.
