Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office investigating road sign theft

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) - The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office is investigating multiple road sign thefts. Sheriff Travis Hakes says a town chairman informed him that, overnight, a stop sign had been cut down and stolen. Hakes says this is one incident in a string of thefts over the last few months. Theft of a roadway sign violates state law. Hakes warns that those responsible for stealing the signs could be facing serious consequences.…
