Chinese researchers tested solar cells designed to operate underwater, and were able to generate electricity within 10 metres below the surface.
Perovskite solar cells supplied electricity in the South China Sea even at a depth of ten metres. The field test was conducted at 324 mWh in two hours. However, the often mentioned 34.71 percent efficiency comes from a laboratory test.
Thanks to the perovskite material, Chinese scientists have developed solar cells that work stably in a seawater environment at a depth of 10 meters.
