China's Huawei to launch two new AI chips in 2027
Huawei said its new Ascend 960DT and 960PR chips will double performance and support larger AI systems as it builds a rival to Nvidia.

- U.S. export controls have blocked advanced chip imports since 2019, prompting Huawei to prioritize domestic technology development and reduce its dependence on Nvidia for AI computing capabilities.
- Huawei utilizes its Peerium Computing Architecture and UnifiedBus protocol to link massive numbers of processors into unified systems, with the new Ascend 960 SuperPoD connecting up to 4,096 chips.
- Rotating chairman Eric Xu acknowledged that production capacity remains insufficient to satisfy domestic demand alone, limiting Huawei's ability to pursue fully-fledged international expansion at this stage.
