BASF Launches Biggest Overseas Project in China with Green-Powered Mega-Site
BASF inaugurated a world-scale Verbund chemical production site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, China, marking its largest global investment at around 8.7 billion euros and employing over 2,000 people.
The site uses innovative and sustainable technology powered entirely by renewable energy to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50% compared to conventional chemical plants.
The facility produces a diverse range of products primarily for the Chinese market and aligns with BASF's global 'local-for-local' strategy.
