Sirens wail, cities shut down as Taiwan simulates Chinese air raid
TAIWAN, JUL 17 – Taiwan mobilized 22,000 reservists in its largest-ever 10-day drills including air raid evacuations and urban combat simulations to strengthen defense against increasing Chinese military incursions.
- Sirens sounded at 1:30 p.m. for mandatory street evacuation drills across northern Taiwan, effectively shutting down towns and cities for 30 minutes.
