Chilliwack Teen with Replica Firearm Arrested at SkyTrain Station
Police say the teen carried a replica firearm and a knife, and no one was injured during the arrest.
- On Saturday, July 18, police arrested a Chilliwack teenager at the Edmonds SkyTrain station following reports of a firearm. The incident began when the teen allegedly exposed a weapon to a passenger at the Nanaimo SkyTrain station.
- Responding to reports at 5:25 p.m., the Vancouver Police Department broadcast the suspect's description to regional law enforcement partners. This swift action enabled Transit Police to locate and apprehend the teen.
- Metro Vancouver Transit Police located the teen on the platform, where a search revealed he was carrying a knife and a replica firearm. No one was injured during the arrest.
- Following his arrest, the teenager was transferred to VPD custody and taken to jail. He has since been released and is facing a charge for weapons possession.
- Constable Darren Wong thanked Metro Vancouver Transit Police for assisting in the apprehension. Officials noted the situation was potentially dangerous regardless of the weapon being a replica.
