Children involved in Amber Alert still missing; RCMP searching in Alberta, B.C. and Yukon
RCMP say the children may still be with their mother and her partner, and investigators are seeking sightings after the alert was cancelled.
On Friday, July 17, 2026, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit reported that six-year-old Lanakai Morrison and four-year-old Karl Morrison remain missing, 10 days after the initial Amber Alert was issued.
Following the July 7 abduction of Lanakai from Valhalla Centre by 35-year-old Krista Morrison, police issued an Amber Alert that was cancelled on July 10 because no further public action seemed viable.
Morrison and partner Daniel Ludwig, both 35, are wanted for abduction in contravention of a custody order, and police believe the group may be traveling in a lifted 2006 Red Ford F350 or a motorhome.
Sightings place the group in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley near Vernon, though investigators warn they remain highly mobile and could be moving through Northern B.C., the Yukon, or Alberta.
