Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of overdue boaters near Townline Street on Monday afternoon; a passing boater located the victims more than 3 1/2 kilometres from shore.
The Canadian Coast Guard recovered the bodies from the water following the discovery, and members of the Ontario Provincial Police traffic incident management and enforcement team are assisting the investigation.
OPP Sgt. Sanchuk expressed condolences on Monday in a video posted to social media, stating, "As a father, I can't even imagine what you're going through."
Police said further updates will be provided as more details come to light regarding the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
