Saints Defensive Tackle Bryan Bresee Injures Knee in Opening Camp Practice
The injury leaves Kansas City short on edge-rush depth after Downs emerged as a roster candidate and special teams contributor.
The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed edge rusher Ethan Downs suffered a season-ending torn ACL during training camp, with the injury initially reported Saturday and confirmed on Tuesday.
A former undrafted free agent from the University of Oklahoma, Downs showed promise last season and was a strong candidate to make the roster as depth at edge rusher.
His injury creates an opening on the roster, as the Chiefs signed 259-pound edge rusher Andreson from Duke, who logged 103 tackles in 49 games during his collegiate career.
Elsewhere, New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee is feared to have suffered a season-ending torn ACL, with NFL Network reporting the injury on Wednesday.
Bresee, selected in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Clemson University, has recorded 14.5 sacks and 86 tackles; the team exercised his fifth-year, $13.9 million option in the offseason.
