Chicopee mayor submits $283.5M budget to City Council

CHICOPEE — Education will make up the majority of Chicopee’s operating budget for fiscal year 2027, according to Mayor John Vieau’s recommendations. The total proposed budget is nearly $283.5 million, a 2.6% increase from the current fiscal year, a statement from the mayor’s office said. Other priorities for the city in the coming fiscal year include public safety, which the mayor has said is “paramount,” public works and rising insurance costs.
