Swiss Stablecoin Sandbox Enters Testing Phase, Adds Two Partners
Nine Swiss firms will test CHFD as a one-to-one Swiss franc stablecoin for automated transactions and tokenized asset settlement, the partners said.
- On Sept 8, the CHFD stablecoin entered its formal testing phase as SIX Digital Exchange and TWINT joined seven existing participants in the controlled initiative.
- Original members including UBS, PostFinance, Sygnum, Raiffeisen, Zurich Cantonal Bank, Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, and Swiss Stablecoin launched the initiative in 2026 to test franc-pegged digital money.
- Participants will test automated transactions and programmable payments to reduce settlement delays between asset delivery and fund receipt, building on Project Helvetia institutional use cases.
- Testing is expected to continue through the end of 2026, though members stated this controlled initiative does not represent a decision to issue CHFD commercially or publicly.
- The sandbox does not constitute a broad FINMA endorsement, and partners have not disclosed transaction volume or technical performance data, leaving questions about real-world viability.
