Cherry Blossoms Bloom in Sapporo and Hakodate, the Second Earliest on Record (Kyodo News)

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced on the 18th that Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms have bloomed in Sapporo and Hakodate, Hokkaido. Both are 5 days earlier than last year, making them the second earliest blooms since records began in 1953. Compared to average years, Sapporo's blooms were 13 days earlier, and Hakodate's were 10 days earlier. The earliest cherry blossom blooms in Sapporo were in 2023.
