On August 4th, a fire broke out at the Yunnan Haoming Fine Phosphorus Chemical Co., Ltd. factory in Erjie Town, Jinning District, Kunming, during the loading and unloading of yellow phosphorus. A large amount of white smoke rose from the site. The fire has been extinguished, and over a thousand people have been evacuated. Yellow phosphorus (also known as white phosphorus) is a highly toxic chemical that is spontaneously combustible in air.
