KARACHI, PAKISTAN, JUL 18 – Chemical analysis found no poison in Humaira Asghar's body, with police considering natural or accidental death after extensive forensic tests and investigation.
- On July 8, 2025, the decomposed body of actor Humaira Asghar was found inside a double-locked flat in DHA Phase VI, Karachi, when a court bailiff gained access following the landlord's request due to overdue rent.
- Investigators estimate her death occurred around October 7, 2024, and the rent was paid up to May 2024 while neighbours reported a foul odour from December onwards.
- Authorities retrieved three mobile devices, a tablet, personal notes, and various papers from the residence. Forensic examination uncovered over 2,000 stored contacts and ongoing interactions with no fewer than 75 different numbers. The investigation is continuing as officials seek additional information.
- Karachi University’s chemical analysis of nine body samples detected no sedatives, intoxicants, or poisons, and investigators on a special team reported that no indications of homicide or suspicious circumstances have emerged in connection with Humaira’s passing up to this point.
- Authorities await the medico-legal officer’s final cause of death determination, with the police surgeon reviewing reports, while ongoing probes suggest the death may be natural or accidental without signs of criminal involvement.
