Raaw Energy Pet Food Recall Expanded over Listeria Concerns, Reported Illnesses
The recall covers products made from July 17 to Dec. 23, 2025, after eight samples tested positive for pathogenic bacteria, the FDA said.
The FDA expanded the recall of Raaw Energy dog food products after testing confirmed listeria contamination, prompting the company to halt all production on Thursday to address safety concerns.
State regulators collected samples after a dog illness was reported in Connecticut, finding all eight tested positive for listeria; the recall expands a previous advisory from January 2026.
The Connecticut and New Jersey departments of agriculture tested eight samples, with the FDA reporting all eight tested positive for "pathogenic bacteria," which can cause severe listeriosis in pets and people.
Customers who possess affected items are advised to discard the products or contact Raaw Energy for a refund, as the company stated this action is taken "out of an abundance of caution."
Raaw Energy suspended production to resurface floors and clean drains, making the facility "smoother, more sanitary, and easier to clean," while the FDA noted receiving additional illness complaints since January.
