CHEBOYGAN, MI - Work crews continue to race against rising river levels in Cheboygan County as they labor to keep several critical dams operational and prevent flooding ahead of an expected peak in river flow within the next two days.
Last week, workers in Chiboygan quickly consolidated the dam after it became threatened by flooding that was a slow-moving disaster threatening communities across the state. Rivers in Michigan have reached record levels, and meteorological experts warn that the risk of flooding may be exacerbated by expectations of further rainfall.
