ChatGPT Atlas and Perplexity’s Comet Might Be Bypassing Paywalls
Reports suggest that AI browsers like ChatGPT Atlas and Perplexity’s Comet can bypass paywalls by reproducing full articles hidden behind them. The Columbia Journalism Review found that both browsers could generate paywalled text from publications like MIT Technology Review. While Gadgets 360’s tests couldn’t replicate the issue, such behaviour, if true, could further threaten publishers’ ad and subscription revenues.
