Charles Schwab planning to scale India tech centre workforce to 2,000 by 2027
The firm will add 500 employees in the first year as it shifts more technology work in-house for its U.S. business.
- On Wednesday, U.S. financial services firm Charles Schwab announced plans to expand its Hyderabad global capability centre to about 2,000 employees by the end of 2027.
- Hyderabad hosts more than 475 global capability centres, positioning the city as a major technology hub managing roughly $40 trillion in assets for top brokerage and trading institutions.
- Hiring will occur in phases, starting with about 500 employees in the first year, while Schwab moves technology work currently handled by contractors in-house to support United States operations.
- Christopher Wyse, Managing Director and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Charles Schwab, said the expansion "strengthens our ability to serve the 48 million account holders and 30,000 employees who rely on our technology every day."
- Telangana Information Technology Minister Sridhar Babu stated the region aims to build a global financial and wealthtech hub where experts collaborate to advance the next generation of global finance.
