Manchester City Return 'Very Special' for Northern Ireland Star Ahead of Championship Loan
Manchester City re-signed goalkeeper Pierce Charles on a five-year contract on Wednesday, immediately loaning the 20-year-old to Queens Park Rangers for the season.
Charles originally departed City at 16 to join Sheffield Wednesday, where he developed into a highly-rated goalkeeper before returning in a deal potentially reaching up to £10m.
City Director of Football Hugo Viana praised Charles's progress, while QPR CEO Christian Nourry said, "We are delighted to have the player and his family's confidence."
Already boasting 27 appearances in England's Championship, Charles said his loan "will only help me grow and improve" as he targets a successful season at Loftus Road.
City's summer spending has surpassed over £140m with this acquisition, including arrivals Mathys Detourbet and Elliot Anderson, though Anderson remains at the World Cup during pre-season.
