With the policy of supply management, Canada seems condemned to repeat the same mistakes. The last Parliament, before Mark Carney came to power, had passed Bill C-282, an initiative of the Blocist MP Yves Perron. This law offered absolute immunity to sectors subject to supply management, including the dairy industry, a true "sacred cow" of agricultural Quebec, in any future free trade negotiations, regardless of the partner.
