The Centre plans to launch a pilot faceless scheme under the Central Goods and Services Tax. The aim of the scheme is to reduce direct interactions between taxpayers and tax officers significantly. Cases will be assigned using technology, including artificial intelligence and data analytics for efficiency. This new framework draws on the existing faceless system used by the Income Tax Department.
