- On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Sashastra Seema Bal Frontier Headquarters in Siliguri to unveil infrastructure projects, emphasizing the strategic importance of the Siliguri Corridor, known as the "Chicken's Neck."
- Shah lamented that previous Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ignored requests for 1,129 acres of land to fence the India-Bangladesh border since 2014; current Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari provided the parcel after taking office.
- The Home Minister visited an exhibition titled "Five Pillars: Transformed Justice System" at Kawakhali Ground, running until August 26 to educate the public on three new criminal laws enacted July 1, 2024.
- On Saturday, Shah will meet public representatives from the Darjeeling hills to discuss a "permanent political solution" for Gorkha communities, with leaders from the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha expected to attend.
