Celtic boss O'Neill 'much better' after hospital procedure
On Thursday, Celtic manager Martin O'Neill resumed his media duties following a hospital stay for a "small" procedure. The 74-year-old returned to the Scottish champions after several days away.
O'Neill missed Sunday's 5-1 victory over Kilmarnock due to the procedure, though he delivered a pre-match team talk at the players' hotel. Assistant manager Shaun Maloney oversaw match preparations during his absence.
Speaking to club media on Thursday, O'Neill said he was making progress: "I'm much better than last week anyway." He noted "a couple of ailments rolled into one" necessitated the hospital stay.
Celtic faces Dundee United in the Scottish League Cup at Tannadice on Saturday, with Austrian champions LASK arriving next week for the first leg of their Champions League play-off. O'Neill's return strengthens preparations for both fixtures.
Addressing fan criticism over spending, O'Neill secured Egypt winger Haissem Hassan from Spanish side Real Oviedo on Wednesday as a third summer recruit. The club targets a 15th title in the last 16 seasons.
