Tesla Recalls More than 200,000 Cars for Camera Failure and some Cybertrucks for Wheel Issue
The automaker said the fixes are free and it is not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities tied to either defect.
- Tesla is recalling 173 Cybertrucks over concerns that wheels could detach, while simultaneously recalling more than 200,000 Model vehicles due to a software issue rendering the rearview camera inoperable.
- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that rotor cracking and excessive grease on lug nuts may cause wheel studs to separate from the hub assembly on the Cybertruck.
- Tesla will replace brake rotors, hubs, and lug nuts on affected Cybertrucks at no cost to owners. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to these defects.
- This marks the 11th recall for the Cybertruck in less than two years. Owners can contact Tesla customer service using reference numbers SB-26-00-016 or SB-26-33-003.
- Continued recalls for the futuristic flagship truck generate headlines, leading some observers to wonder if these frequent mechanical issues are becoming an inherent part of the Cybertruck experience itself.
