Celine Dion Shares Health Update on Stiff-Person Syndrome Ahead of Paris Shows
Dion is rebuilding strength with physical and vocal therapy as she prepares 10 Paris shows after postponements tied to stiff-person syndrome.
Celine Dion is preparing for a five-week Paris residency beginning next month at the Plenitude Arena, marking her first major return to performing in six years.
Diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022, Dion faced years of debilitating muscle spasms that forced her to suspend her Courage World Tour. The rare neurological disorder affects roughly one in a million people.
To prepare for her Paris return, Dion committed to 90-minute Pilates sessions three times weekly and ballet classes, supported by comprehensive rehabilitation including medication, physical therapy, and immunotherapy.
Dion described the residency as a birthday gift to herself, telling Harper's Bazaar, "It's been so long," expressing her desire to show fans how much she missed them.
Tickets sold so rapidly that Dion scheduled a three-week residency in May 2027, demonstrating her continued commitment while managing the progressive, autoimmune-rooted condition.
The singer, who suffers from a rare neurological disorder that made her pause her career in 2020, starts a series of concerts in September in Paris. “It’s been so long that I’d like to offer you something to show you how much I’ve missed you.”
