Celebrity Traitors star rumoured to become first ever celebrity Gladiator
The former England international’s TV profile has risen after Celebrity Traitors, and a source said the BBC wants a surprise stunt for the reboot.
The 36-year-old Joe Marler is reportedly in talks to become the first celebrity Gladiator on the BBC's reboot, with the broadcaster planning a surprise appearance on the popular show.
Having recently appeared on the celebrity edition of The Traitors, Marler described the experience as "wild" and "a little bit overwhelming," but enjoyed mixing with Sir Stephen Fry and Alan Carr.
A source told The Sun that Marler possesses the "size, strength and muscle power to cut it as a Gladiator," while also noting he has the "cheeky personality to match" for the role.
Despite his rising television profile, Marler ruled out appearing on other reality shows, stating, "I'm not doing Strictly because I can't dance."
The Celebrity Traitors will return to BBC One later this year, following a successful debut where Carr won £87,500 for Neuroblastoma in the series finale.
