CBS denies it pulled Colbert’s Talarico interview
CBS and THE LATE SHOW avoided airing Talarico's interview on broadcast to comply with FCC equal-time rules, instead sharing it on YouTube where it gained 2.2 million views.
- On Tuesday, CBS denied blocking Stephen Colbert's interview with Texas Democrat James Talarico and told Fox News Digital it `was not prohibited` from broadcasting it, while THE LATE SHOW's YouTube page has more than 2.2 million views.
- Legal guidance said the FCC equal-time rule could be triggered for two other candidates, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Texas, and options for fulfilling equal time were presented.
- On Monday, Colbert said, `He was supposed to be here, but we were told in no uncertain terms by our network's lawyers, who called us directly, that we could not have him on the broadcast,` Colbert told viewers.
