The emergence of this extremely contagious disease in Savoie and Haute-Savoie involves drastic measures such as the total slaughter of herds, contested by some herders worried about their exploitation, but justified by scientists.
On the way to the area, Annie Genevard chose to visit a confined and immunized farm, thus for the hour saved by the disease. She promised compensation and psychological follow-up "coordinated" for the breeders who had to have their herd slaughtered.
On Thursday 24 July, before the official meeting in Savoie prefecture, the Minister of Agriculture Annie Genevard met the four herders whose herd had to be slaughtered. She found them worthy and courageous. "They are heroes, their sacrifice deserves to be greeted".
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed on 25 July 2025 a total of 39 homes of nodular dermatosis in France, including a new one in the commune of Hauteluce (Savoie), some 30 kilometres from the previous cases.
