Cowboy Helps Wrangle Surviving Cattle After Hauler Overturns on Oklahoma Interstate
Authorities say 62 cattle were aboard the trailer, and some died after the rollover crash that closed I-40 to one lane.
On Tuesday, a cattle hauler overturned on westbound Interstate 40 near Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma, trapping the driver and his son inside the cab.
Firefighters from the Midwest City Fire Department extricated the father and son from the wreckage around 1:30 a.m., discovering around 62 head of cattle inside the trailer.
Cowboy Caden Mayberry assisted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in opening the trailer, saying, "We all rushing around in coordination with the firefighters and OHP to get it cut open."
Westbound I-40 remained restricted to one lane after the crash on a curve that Richardson described as "pretty notorious for a lot of wrecks over the years."
No injuries were reported among those involved, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues investigating the crash cause while crews secured a second trailer around 6 a.m. for surviving animals.
