Cats rescued from kitchen fire in Rome

The alarm was raised at 9:44 p.m. Monday, March 9 for a structure fire at 1005 Seneca St., on the city's east side. Fire officials said they were told that a resident and several pets were inside, but a search of the home found no people. Two cats were rescued from the house, and several more were saved from the basement, officials stated. The resident was not home at the time.
