Marriages and forced marriages between minors will be penalized. The draft law which provides for the tightening of penalties for such acts has passed by Parliament. Those who impose such concubines, without the consent of the persons involved, risk up to seven years in prison.
The draft separately discusses the cases of minors under the age of 16 and would extend criminal liability to anyone who participates in the conduct of a forced marriage.
