Authorities are investigating the cause after the Cirrus SR22T went down about 10 minutes after takeoff, killing three people.
- On Tuesday, a Cirrus SR22T aircraft crashed into a mountain slope near Leukerbad, Switzerland, killing three people, including prominent Welsh businessman Owain Davies, who departed from Sion airport about 10 minutes earlier.
- Davies was the managing director of engineering firm Amcanu, based in Burry Port, and served nearly 25 years as a helmsman with Burry Port Lifeboat before his death. Amcanu described him as "strong-willed, spirited, determined and deeply caring."
- Beyond his business career, Davies had been a trustee of Wales Air Ambulance Charity since 2017. Dr Kyle Jacques, the charity's chair, said Davies made a "significant contribution to the Wales Air Ambulance and the vital service we provide."
- The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed it is "providing support to the families of two British nationals who died in Switzerland." Valais Police and the Office of the Attorney General have launched an inquiry into the crash.
- His son, Aron Davies, said the family has "suffered an unimaginable loss," describing his father as "driven, determined and someone who simply didn't accept that a problem was too big to solve." Colleagues called him a "valued colleague and friend.
