Runner Dies After Taking Part in Cardiff Half Marathon
Run4Wales said no further details would be released after the participant died during the race, which drew about 30,000 runners.
A participant died while competing in the 23rd Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday, October 4, with about 30,000 runners taking to the streets in Cardiff.
Run4Wales confirmed the death on Monday, stating the 'event and hospital medical teams who reacted with great speed and professionalism' during the emergency response.
The event has previously experienced tragedies, including Stephen Jenkins' 2024 death at the finish line, Nicholas Beckley's 2019 collapse, and Ben McDonald and Dean Fletcher's 2018 fatalities.
As Wales' largest mass-participation event, the race is a member of the SuperHalfs series and raises more than £4 million annually for charity.
Run4Wales stated no further details will be released 'in respect of the family's wishes' following the incident where medical attention was provided during the race.
