‘Cancer has taken so much … but it’s also given us a few things’: One family’s journey
Seventeen-Year-Old Sabina McMahon is currently receiving treatment at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, after her family relocated to pursue specialized care for her recurring osteosarcoma.
Diagnosed with osteosarcoma at age 12, McMahon has endured five relapses since her initial diagnosis, forcing the family to navigate a "horrific new normal."
On August 21, McMahon released her debut album, "forget me not," after recording final vocals in a Columbus studio this past June.
Beyond her personal recovery, McMahon advocates for pediatric cancer research, noting that the field receives only 4 cents of every federal research dollar.
Reflecting on their journey, McMahon's father, Sean, notes that while cancer has taken much, it has also provided the family with precious, poignant memories.
