- All three individuals survived the incident; the boyfriend successfully disarmed and stabbed the attacker, and police arrested Vanderhoef at the San Jose Airport as he attempted to flee to Canada.
- Investigators identified Darius Avery Whyte as an accomplice who knew of the plan; the court deemed the crimes "willful, deliberate and premeditated attempted murder of two people.
