The airport in West Sussex was given the go-ahead in September for the £2.2 billion project. But the group Communities against Gatwick Noise Emissions has filed papers at the High Court, arguing the impact on climate change wasn't properly assessed.

The law suit has been filed by the campaign group Communities Against Gatwick Noise Emissions (CAGNE). It comes after Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander was put on legal notice by the group, following the decision to grant development consent for the expansion.
