In Cameroon, the government announced on July 8, 2026, a major crackdown on Pentecostal churches. No fewer than 1,400 of them will be closed in the coming days, the Minister of Territorial Administration stated. This announcement comes just days after the murder of an 11-year-old girl in Yaoundé. The alleged perpetrator, a member of one of these churches, claimed to have acted under the influence of a religious leader.
