Brazil's Lower House passes bill to tax streaming platforms
Brazil's Lower House passed on Tuesday a bill providing for the collection of taxes on streaming services submitted by the rapporteur, Congressman Doutor Luizinho (PP-RJ). Additional wording adjustments are expected to be made on Wednesday.

The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies approved on Tuesday night (November 4, 2025) the main text of Bill 8,889 of 2017, which regulates streaming platforms in Brazil. The main text received 330 votes in favor and 118 against. Congress members will have to vote on the amendments – sections voted on separately that could alter the content of the bill – in the session on Wednesday (November 5).
